Taft Point stands on top of a cliff on the sounthern edge of Yosemite Valley. It is positioned at a bend in the valley allowing for dramatic view. One can look to the west past El Capitan and east up to the division of the valley at Half Dome. There is also a clear view of Yosemite Falls across the valley. From this distance the water seems to fall in slow motion. A small railed-in spot provides good views and a sense of security. Looking away from the edge one can see rock pillars rounded by the elements. They resemble giant pebbles sitting atop one another. Along the edge are numerous crevasses. These lead to a steep drop. Boulders and other objects are often wedged in them. From this vantage point a small waterfall can be seen as it runs down the slope.
